The Gimnasio’s main purpose remains and will be the same today as it was a hundred years ago: to educate leaders and good citizens, with a social conscience at the service of the country and the world. From the clarity and coherence of the guiding principles of the Gimnasio, which are its reason for being, the Rectory made a diagnosis on the situation of the school, and established eight lines of work in accordance with the challenges of Colombia and the world in the 21st century , in order to invigorate the school within its fidelity to its “modern” spirit. The eight lines of work established from that diagnosis are the following:
- Human education and Discipline of Trust
- Teachers from the Gimnasio Moderno
- Academic Strengthening
- Bilingualism and Internationalization
- School of leaders with a social sense and environmental awareness
- External Projection and Social Impact
- 21st Century Curriculum ( Pedagogical Development)
- Administrative modernization and Administrative Management
Although they do not respond to a priority order, it should be noted that the only one of these lines, which give foundation of the others, is Human Education and the Discipline of Trust, since it summarizes the flagship values of the school and the pillar on which the “Educate , not only instruct ”. Working on these decisive lines in the times that depend on the needs of our students and our community, in addition to honoring our principles, allows us to make our reason for being a reality.
By 2027, the school should consolidate itself as a regional benchmark for pedagogy, culture, Positive Education, social vocation and care for the environment. The fundamental purpose is to continue educating better leaders and better people, at the service of innovation and respect for the environment, freedom and democracy. What should the school do to meet these challenges? How can we think of a Gimnasio Moderno for the next ten years? Teachers and directive staff have worked hard to think about the school of the future. These lines of action, more than a preaching exercise, are a kind of cartography to guide changes and an invitation to continue improving.
